Addressable Fire Interface Module (Dual-Input / Relay-Output Combo)

Intelligent Addressable Fire Interface Module (Dual-Input / Relay-Output Combo) An enterprise-tier loop interface device engineered to bridge conventional mechanical hardware, third-party low-voltage subsystems, and auxiliary building infrastructure directly onto a central Fire Alarm Control Panel’s (FACP) addressable Signaling Line Circuit (SLC). Operating over a supervised two-wire data bus, this microprocessor-based module maps unique system addresses to non-addressable equipment to execute complex emergency monitoring and automated life-safety control overrides, including HVAC shutdowns, elevator recalls, and access control releases.

The Digital Translator of Integrated Building Life-Safety Automation

A modern commercial or industrial facility relies on a massive variety of standalone mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. By default, systems like fire pump controllers, sprinkler waterflow switches, elevator shafts, security magnetic locks, and central air handlers are conventional or "dumb"—they operate on simple dry-contact switch closures or high-voltage relays and lack the microprocessor intelligence to speak directly to a high-speed digital network. An Addressable Fire Interface Module acts as the crucial bidirectional translator that brings these subsystems under the direct, automated command of the central FACP.

The module connects directly to the panel’s two-wire Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop, drawing its operating power and digital communications over the same pair of wires. It features unique rotary or software-coded address switches, giving it a distinct identity on the network.

Internally, the device splits into two primary functional pathways: an Input Monitoring Circuit and an Output Control Relay. The input circuit continuously monitors external dry contacts using an end-of-line (EOL) resistor to watch for open circuits or short faults. The output side features a set of electromechanical Form C contacts that physically override external equipment circuitry the moment the FACP sends an emergency command down the data loop. This ensures that when a fire is detected, the building responds as a single, coordinated safety system.
